Who needs resolutions?

Had a pretty busy holiday period so far. Before Christmas it was mainly filled with working in the store of games, aka GAME, and working on the freelance projects I had secured myself. It never ceases to amaze me what people think they will be able to get on Christmas Eve. Do you honestly think that one of the most popular high street retailers in the UK is going to have perhaps the most popular and in demand gift on Christmas Eve?
“I’m sorry sir / madam, we don’t not have any DS Lites at the moment.”
After the melee that was Christmas Eve I was glad to down my knowledge of electronic gaming and take a bit of a break from what was supposed to be a holiday! Christmas Day was fairly subdued with no one falling out over the traditional post dinner board game (tempers often flair) and I retreated to my pit at around 9pm, falling asleep while attempting to watch Amazing Grace. I still haven’t finished it.
After a final shift in GAME I bode farewell to the green isle for a few days as I revisited the mainland. Friday 29th December saw the coming of age of a very good friend of mine, Mr Thomas Carey Dean. The celebrations of his 21st birthday began with family dinner which I managed to scam my way into. Following that he and his brothers were due to attend two engagement parties. My options consisted of staying at theirs or following behind to congratulate complete strangers on their engagements. I was coerced into the latter…
Saturday was were all the fun started - two days in a house in the middle of nowhere in the Lake District! The village of Kentmere if you wish to be precise. Place plenty of students in these surroundings and you are sure to enjoy yourself. I absolutely loved the weekend and genuinely couldn’t have wished for better company, except for those who couldn’t make it of course! Notable happenings included -
- Late night dip in Lake Windermere (not recommended)
- Dodgeball game of the century
- Lads only Match of the Day viewing
- Infamous Villains Themed Party
After the adventure in Kentmere it was back to Scotland for New Years Eve and Edinburgh’s Street Party! Time to add into the mix a rabble from home alongside the usual suspects from Edinburgh. If you have never tried the Street Party before it really is a case of what you make of it but with 20+ of us standing in the middle of Princes Street it was never going to be a dull affair. We brought in New Year 2008 in style ensuring those around us had a good laugh in the process. Following the admittedly surreal experience that was the Street Party one and all headed back to our flat for Norm’s New Year Hollapolooza. We have been, on the whole, pretty poor with parties in our flat, mainly because we have never had one before - no longer can that accusation be levelled against us. The masses heard the rumours and the masses came.
And so that takes me to where I am at the moment. Term starts again in a few days which is more than a little daunting, holidays seem shorter and shorter every year and working doesn’t help that. Eyes peeled for more updates on the life of Harrison Gilmore
